If you need treatment for a serious mental illness, or are experiencing symptoms of mental illness, there is help and hope.

Serious mental illness is a behavioral health or mental disorder that interferes with school, work, relationships … your life. Some serious mental illnesses include psychosis, schizophrenia, major depression, and manic-depression or bipolar disorder.

You are not “nuts” or “crazy”. Our society has moved way beyond this outdated view of mental illness. Today, people with first-hand experience with mental illness are writing and talking openly about their experiences.

Once you learn more about mental illness, you’ll understand that anyone can have it, and those who do are much like you.

It is nothing to be ashamed of, nothing to hide. In fact, you may find it very empowering to recognize it, talk about it, and begin to deal with it.

You can recover from mental illness, just as you can from most other illnesses. In fact, some studies suggest that the treatment success rates for many mental health disorders surpass those of other medical conditions.

The hardest part is reaching out and accepting help. Once you take that first step, you will be amazed by all the people and organizations who are willing to help, and the resources and tools that are available.
